INTRODUCTION TO 21 DAYS OF PRAYER
One of the highlights of my year is kicking off the new year in 21 days of prayer with my church family. Every year this seems to focus us together. We get on the same page. We pray together. We learn together. We dream together.
This year the theme is “Grow.” If we want to be followers of Christ, we have to do the things that a disciple would do. In practical terms, I call them spiritual disciplines. A disciple has to be disciplined about his walk with God. He has to be growing in his relationship and walk with God.
You won’t be an accidental disciple.
You won’t be a haphazard disciple.
You have to be an intentional disciple. You have to be disciplined. We aren’t merely to wait for holiness; we are to pursue it.
The truth is, the more people in our church that are walking with God, practicing spiritual disciplines, and pursuing a passionate relationship with Christ, the more our church will be blessed.
So, let’s do it together. Let’s be disciples together. Let’s grow together. Let’s take the journey towards a deeper walk with Christ together.
My prayer is that the 21 days will lead to a lifetime of being a disciple.
Note: The staff relied heavily on the book “Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life,” by Donald S. Whitney as we wrote this devotional. If you want to dig further into spiritual disciplines I suggest you pick this book up and read it.
