DAY  8

THE JOY OF WORSHIPPING GOD IN SOLITUDE

SELECTED READING: Luke 5:16 (NIV)

“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”

Have you ever pondered the importance of worshipping God in solitude? We often think of our worship experience as existing on one day: Sunday. However, God desires that you worship Him in public and when you are alone.

In Luke 4:16, we are shown that Jesus Himself worshipped in public. Luke 5:16 shows us that He was also found alone, praying. You see, there are some blessings that you may only receive on Sunday morning. But there are still blessings that you might only receive in private.

You may be asking, “How am I supposed to worship alone? There aren’t any musicians. The choir and worship team aren’t here. There is no way I can have a powerful worship experience without these elements.” Although there are some elements of our public worship time together that can only be experienced on Sunday morning, there are also elements of worship that are best experienced alone with God.

Private worship is best experienced through a time of personal Scripture reading and prayer. Your worship is an overflow of your heart. Matthew 22:37 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Just set your focus on God and go from there.

You see, God simply wants you. He wants you to draw closer to Him. He wants to know your heart. And He wants to hear you glorify, magnify, and praise His name, both publicly and privately. Isn’t it beautiful that the King of Heaven, the Almighty God is available every day, every hour, and every second to spend quality time alone with you? There is no limit to the amount of time that you can give Him. Take a moment daily to truly worship the Lord. Tell Him how great He is.

Thank Him for all that He has done for you. And set your focus and attention on Him today.
