DAY  11

“And many Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified.”

I have asked myself time and time again, are you sure God wants to use you in this situation? That’s why I love John chapter 4. Jesus is on His way to Galilee from Judea, but He goes out of His way to stop in Samaria. That’s what Jesus does, He goes out of

His way to meet you where you are. This is so counter cultural for Jesus to go out of His way to Samaria. Samaritans were half-breed Jews. They were looked down on for their mixed races. But Jesus is at Jacob’s well at noon (John 4:6). He meets a Samaritan woman who was drawing water to drink. Obviously, she was there to draw

water, so no one would see her. Usually the women would draw in the cool of the morning. As we find out a little later in the passage, she had a past she was trying to hide. She had been married five times and was living with a man that was looked down upon. This woman was the low of the low making mistake, after mistake. And Jesus went out of His way to find her. Has Jesus done that for you? Did He find you in your hurt and shame?

I love when Jesus reveals to her that He is the Messiah. You know what she does? She drops her water jug, goes to town, and goes to the men to share the Gospel with them. If God can use a woman who is a lesser citizen in her city, full of guilt and sin; He can surely use me. He can surely use you. Jesus didn’t give her a tract or Faith Evangelism Method. No, He shared the Gospel with her. You know what she did? She went and shared the Gospel with the city. She’s thinking if Jesus loves me and wants to save me, He wants to save everyone.

I love verse 39, “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him (Jesus) because of the word of the woman who testified.” All she did was share her story of how Jesus saved her and changed her. If Jesus has changed your life, you have a story to share.

I’ll leave you with this. A few years ago when I was in college, I met an atheist named Willy. He hated God and Christianity yet went to a Christian College. He would debate all the time. Willy made some students cry because he would be so ugly and hateful. God impressed upon me to share my story with Willy. For a few weeks, He would try to find logic and not supernatural reasons for how my life changed overnight. The only answer he could eventually come to was Jesus changed me supernaturally. Within a few months Willy gave his heart to Jesus and is still on fire today. Be like the woman at the well. Find a “Willy” to share your story with and see how God will use your story in a powerful way.

We may not agree on everything but we agree on the main thing.

  • Pray for Pastor Joel and Sherry.

  • Pray for the staff.

  • Pray for the church to be eager to love people where they are at and share the Gospel with those they come in contact with so that God’s Kingdom may multiply.

  • Pray for boldness to be the woman at the well, to share your story because God deserves to be glorified for saving you.
