DAY  2

SELECTED READING: Joshua 1:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

Joshua 1:8 is one of the most comprehensive verses of Scripture regarding the value of Scripture and the use and application of its truths. I wonder if Christians today realize what a treasure we have in the inspired Word of God? I wonder if we don’t realize its value

because we do not take the time to read, observe, and meditate on it day and night? With so much noise in our lives today we must make it a daily discipline to set aside time to read and to meditate or “think about” what we read from Scripture. Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life. Want to know truth, read the Bible, want to

“Want to know truth, read the Bible.”

know the way you should go, read the Bible, want to live eternally and abundantly, read the Bible!

We are told by God from the inspired hand of the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 3:16 that the Bible is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness so that we may be thoroughly furnished for every good work. Everything you need to live life well in any and every circumstance is found in the pages of Scripture—everything! Jesus tells us that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments. How can we keep them if we haven’t read them and don’t know them?

From the passage above found in Joshua we learn that by observation of all that is written in Scripture our way will be made prosperous and we will have good success. Not necessarily success according to the world’s standards, but success according to God’s standards! Psalm 1:1–3 says “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”

And again in James 1:25 we read, “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”

Stop what you are doing, be still, read the greatest treasure book of all time, think about it, meditate on what you read, and gain wisdom that is out of this world!

We may not agree on everything but we agree on the main thing.

  • Pray for Pastor Joel and Sherry.

  • Pray for the staff.

  • Pray for the church that we would be a church filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding meditating in it day and night (Colossians 2:9).

  • Pray for yourself that God would guide you as you read and meditate daily on the word of God.
