XLR8 KIDS

(based on AWANA curriculum)

WEDNESDAYS AT 6PM

If you are familiar with AWANA, then you are familiar with traditional AWANA game time.  We have replaced the traditional game time with options to engage kids with their own interests.  Below is a listing of electives:

ART

This elective is designed to help children create great-looking projects that we can hang on the walls around our campus. Our art teacher is an interior designer who gets her inspiration from Pinterest.  This elective is limited to 20 kids per session, a total of 40 per night. The kids take pride in seeing their work hanging around the church.

GAMING DOJO

What is Gaming Dojo? Each semester we will be playing a new and retro video game, making new friends, and earning virtual badges. We won't just be playing games. We will have the opportunity to create our own online, mobile, or Nintendo Switch game. Our beta version will be booting this semester. Fall 2019 we will be playing Mario Cart 8 and Donkey Kong Classic and creating a classic shoot-em-up flyer.

GUITAR

This elective offers guitar skills for beginners. Kids will advance in their guitar skills to intermediate and advanced. You may provide your own guitar or purchase one for $75. The lesson book is $20.

MARTIAL ARTS

Martial Arts provides a disciplined-based option for children who want to learn basic self-defense moves.  The program lasts the entire AWANA year. The uniform is $20.

RECREATION

We have a high energy game time that features games like food relays, and team sports. There is no cost and no size limit on this elective.

SEWING

This elective allows students to learn sewing skills for beginners. Learn basic sewing terminology, how to use a sewing machine & to sew basic seams.

Puggles® recognizes the learning ability of 2 year olds by introducing biblical precepts at church and equipping parents to teach them at home. Toddlers love having their very own Awana club just like their older siblings.

In Puggles, children are welcomed each week with play time, songs and simple crafts and activities. Leaders present age-appropriate lessons using large, colorful teaching cards, finger puppet plays and more. Lessons teach and reinforce four basic biblical precepts:

God Made Everything

God Saw That It Was Good

God is Love

Give Thanks

Special take-home cards that correspond to each week's lesson help parents nurture their child's faith at home. Participating in Puggles will give your child a head start on the path to loving and following God for life.

Cubbies® celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers (3 to 5-year-olds) by helping them develop respect for God, His Son and His Word.

Preschoolers can hardly wait for their next Cubbies club meeting. Whether it's the fun puppets, the exciting games or all their Cubbies friends, they simply love it. At Story Time each week, preschoolers learn about God – the greatness of His love and His Word – and about His Son, Jesus Christ, the promised Savior. Non-competitive games build excitement and reinforce Story Time lesson themes.

Cubbies helps you lead your child to God early so your child will respect and trust Him for life.

To many children in kindergarten to second grade, Sparks is the highlight of the week! They enjoy their electives and spending time with leaders and friends.  Sparks® ignites the curiosity of early elementary-aged kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.  The “Together We Move” approach during handbook time involves clubbers learning the same verse or portion of Scripture together each week.  The progression of the Sparks’ handbooks takes your child on a journey through the entire Bible!

T&T engages third- through fifth-graders by answering their questions about God and the Bible, guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ's grace.

T&T also utilizes the “Together We Move” approach, so handbook time in a small-group setting deepens a child's knowledge about God and His Word and teaches them how to put that knowledge into action in everyday life.  T&T is different from the other Awana groups in that clubbers are separated by gender and grade level.

LIFE IN CHRIST IS ABOUT GROWING

AND HELPING OTHERS.
